Feral Interactive says the historical strategy game Total War: Shogun 2 for Mac will be released via Steam on July 31, with the Mac App Store version scheduled for release in early August.
About Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Rise of the Samurai Campaign. Play a brand new and independent campaign for SHOGUN 2 set in 12th century Japan. The Rise of The Samurai campaign can be played in single-player mode as well as multiplayer versus or co-op modes. It's set centuries before Total War: Shogun 2 - Rise of the Samurai basically gives you another campaign similar to the original for the game. It's set centuries before the Shogun 2 campaign and as the name suggests it is focused on the Samurais' rise to power. While the cities and resources are in the same places this is where the similarities.
Rise of The Samurai is a brand new, independent campaign for Total War: SHOGUN 2. Set 400 years before the dramatic civil war depicted in SHOGUN 2, the 'Rise of The Samurai' campaign is based on the Gempei War, a conflict between six legendary clans of the Taira, Minamoto and Fujiwara families.

Total War: Shogun 2 Collection includes the Rise of the Samurai Campaign pack: a stand-alone campaign which challenges players to establish Japan’s first Shogunate 400 years before the events of the main game. It also includes the Dragon War Battle pack, three additional clans and two unit packs. All additional content will be available separately via Steam to customers who purchase the base game.
The Steam version of Total War: Shogun 2 will also offer Mac-to-Mac online multiplayer battles, co-operative campaigns and ‘Avatar Conquest’ mode, in which players team up to form clans and fight alongside their allies to claim territories on a unique campaign map.

Minimum system requirements call for a 1.8GHz Intel Mac with at least 4.0GB RAM, 256MB or better graphics card, and Mac OS 10.9.4 or later. The following graphics cards are not supported: ATI X1xxx series, ATI HD2xxx series, Intel GMA series, Intel HD3000, NVIDIA 7xxx series, NVIDIA 8xxx series, NVIDIA 9400 and NVIDIA 3xx series. The Intel HD 4000 requires 8GB of system RAM. A Steam account is required to access online multiplayer.
